Sea Turtles nesting on the Sunshine Coast Australia
I recently read a post by @travelling-two Wild Wednesday's: Saving the sea turtles in Chania, Crete - Greece: Part 1 about loggerhead sea turtles nesting in Crete and some of the challenges they face and the people trying to help them
We also have loggerhead and green sea turtles nest of the beaches near my home on the Sunshine Coast Australia so I’d like to share about the community action taken here to protect the nesting turtles and their hatchlings.
Early morning turtle tracks show a nest has been laid
Loggerhead Sea Turtle (Caretta caretta)
They mostly lay at night but this girl couldn’t wait and came up in the day
Occasionally the nest need to be relocated due to threat of erosion or inundation. A very delicate and precise process by trained volunteers.
The hatchling emerge and run for the sea
The turtle care volunteers also rescue sick and injured turtles. This is a Hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata)

Yes. It’s very difficult to catch the nest runs because they don’t really publicise where they are and they only take minutes to erupt and run to the waters edge.
I figured that would be the case. I suppose they don’t want have the Sunshine Coast interfering with them.

Excellent. You have volunteers who actively participate in saving turtles. Very beautiful tortoises in Australia. What big! Only small turtles live in Bulgaria. We have a different problem - dolphins are dumped from the Black Sea and die. Massively blue blue jellyfish are dying on the seashore. Environmentalists are sounding the alarm and can not find the cause of the death of dolphins and jellyfish.
