What is your duty as a Whale?...Are you pushing that little guy to grow?...(The community grows faster when everyone is growing)
The number one factor is that is very important for the growth of steem, and everyone should be enjoying the platform. And with everyone I mean primarily those that do not have lots of followers or SP to automatically attract upvotes and reward.
What makes you a hero: upvoting and pushing that little guy!!!
What i'm saying here is the real fact, but a lot of people will pick it as an offence. Truth hurts, but the truth Must be told if we ever want the growth of the community.
Most people on this platform,have the ability and capacity to make others grow but they don't just want to do it, Maybe they're just not givers, or they don't help because they don't want you to be like them. People always want to be on-top so that you will always see them as a king or queen and you'll always come to them for help.
I believe Steemit is not skyrocketing the way it should, it is not growing faster the way it should. Because lots of newbies seems to dump their account after trying for some months and achieved nothing. The cost of internet especially here in Africa is very expensive. And to keep you account active, you have to be online. It might not really mean anything to you, even after spending this money and you don't achieve anything. You still push on and waiting for the good days, simply because you can afford it
But they are lot's of people out there who can't afford this data like some us, and most of these individuals, after spending the peanut they had to get internet service and log onto steemit, they do this for months and all they get is nothing because those who are supposed to help them grow just refused doing this. What do you think will happen? they dump the account. Not because they are lazy, or not because they dont have passion. Most of them have the passion, the zeal to be great here, but how do you expect them to do so when they can't even afford these things. So it's your duty as the big guy to show some encouragement.
It's 100% true that it's not anybody's business if you upvote, resteem or not, it's your steem power and we don't know how you got it, so it shouldn't be our business. But day in day out, we talk about how to make steemit grow bigger than how it is right now, and how can we make it grow? when the new intake is on the low, and we don't help that little guy that just joined to grow also to bring new people. There is no way you will gladly continue doing something that doesn't benefits you after spending so much time, energy and money. This little guys will just give up because he doesn't see it being beneficial.
LET'S FORGET ABOUT THE MONETARY ASPECT OF IT
How about showing that little encouraging by comment, we don't say it's a must you give a 100 percent vote, they're options which you can reduce your voting power to vote, just show some appreciation. Sometimes it's not really about the money but the feeling this persons get when dropping a post and no one even seems to upvote, it's so discouraging and it affect the mindset psychologically. It doesn't cost you anything to do these things, 2 or 3 sbd you give out can be a life saver to someone
What about good content
Isn't that what we're looking for? but i see some good post that should be trending having a 0.01 payout. And i wonder why wasn't it being upvoted? are we not supposed to upvote the good contents?..
If you keep on doing this, then you are totally discouraging the person. Because after putting in so much effort and got no like, then there is no point to keep working hard. The "little guy" would be just desperate and not motivated anymore to use the platform. But encouraging him with your upvote, good comment or even resteem. You are 100% empowering the community by doing that.
For the newbies too, yes I will tell you that It is not easy to grow up here. But if you publish good content, you will attract the good people. Not necessarily the "whales" but quality people.
As it stands my vote doesn't give anything, but i learn to upvote any good post i come across. I'm doing this to show encouragement to the person, because it's always a thing of joy that someone like what you posted. And i'm also training myself so that when i become that big person it won't be hard for me to upvote.

I believe some guys are doing their best. Some whales have been supportive but you have to put in some hardwork, get them to notice you. Steemit is not for you to drop quality contents and go, interact, share your ideas under people's comments. I once struggled as a new bie. I was frustrated, i poured out my anger, and a few people educated me on what to do and how to earn. I had to put it extra effort. I'm not still earning as much as others do but the little i get is enough and I'm working towards more. Participantion in contests also help. In steemit you come for the money and stay for the community

you're so right @vheobong, a lot of people here are so supportive and i did not dispute that fact. but the truth is you and i might have the financial background to back up our strength in putting in much work no matter how long it takes. But how about those who are not financially strong?.. Do you think they can continue when they end up spending the little they had. No. I know a lot of guys have been so supportive and if everybody can be supportive up to 10% like them, Steemit can hit the moon. Thanks for your contribution. i really appreciate
I feel you bro, so much passion on your post especially for the newbies. If we get the right mentors and follow their leadership, then we can make it. Most people fail to understand the principles of steemit. There is more to blogging and posting, you need to work hard for the earnings. One needs to be present for the encouragement. Cos, you're not the only one reaching out to them. I think it depends on your approach. For instance, me, I have so many unread messages on messenger. If I scroll and check and see you're trying to reach out to me, I'll respond, but if you come with greetings like hi, hey etc. I feel so lazy to respond, cos I feel you have nothing to say. Just circle of repeated greetings. So try your best to reach out, don't be scared, you'll be noticed.

I really feel what you are saying and you have a point but you know ,anything that has to do with money has a way of bringing in the approach of business to it and I think that's how it is. I guess the whales want to see how consistent one is and also how good their value they add to the community is. Hopefully overtime, one will make it and also become a whale.
