RE: How I Steem (Guidance for users who are struggling)
You make a great point about finding your voice. I have found after changing my focus to posting daily, the writing and my voice has began to get more polished and I can feel like I'm getting a better understanding of myself everyday.
I feel like it's important to forget about money while your here. Don't get me wrong it's great to see people being interested and getting votes from more established users is nice because it's letting you know that your voice matters, but it's a very limited belief and it can only become detrimental if you focus that value over the months of your progression.
Finding something you are passionate about is also very important and it's good to realize that being passionate about something means that you will hold a lot more interest when people swing by your content to discuss it. The post isn't important, it's the views and connections that generate from it.
I'm looking forward to hearing more about your Steemit journey in the future, and hopefully in a few months time I'll be standing in the shoes you are in with the ability to share my experience with the newer members, in an attempt to help them through the initial struggles.
Hope you are having a good day pal! Keep up the great work.
PS. Your Optimism at the End of the World series sounds awesome! Expect to see my views some of your comment feeds.
I think the biggest shift I’ve had here at steemit was caused by what you hinted at, to stop focusing on each post individually and focusing more on my entire experience at steemit. Some posts take a lot of work and get nice attention. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t post that kind of stuff but perhaps it’s time hasn’t come yet, which is how I see my fiction now. Perhaps fiction on steemit needs to come from someone with an established reputation, so I can build that reputation other ways doing other things that I enjoy. Anyone who focuses on the friendships and possibilities here does well eventually. That’s not to say everyone who does well focuses on these but forget all that, at least it has gotten better these past few months.
I just pretend steem is worth $1000.
Then when my post pays $.052, I Pat myself on the back (that’s a heck of a writers salary!)
