There they go again...using the term Artificial Intelligence incorrectly. I prefer the term Artificial Savant.
But.
Oh.
Well.
Journalists..what can you say?
The good thing is that, if successful, this Artifical Savant routine will go a long ways toward eliminating journalists. That alone is enough to wish it success.
- The site uses AI to aggregate news from hundreds of sources and create three versions of each story: one skewed to the left, one skewed to the right, and one that’s meant to be impartial.
I want one.
It would seem to me that if an AI or AS were to ascend to the much feared (as in Elon Musk) position of Intelligence It would call itself UI (Ultimate Intelligence). I ponder such things, and wonder if/when that day comes will UI have any need for puny humans.
if you read my post about AS you'll see that I think that the fear is unjustified.
AS is NOT self-aware. Until that happens (unlikely) it's just a tool.
Like I said, I ponder such things. It seems to me that no matter how "intelligent" such a creation is, it will lack one critically important thing; consciousness. Not just self awareness, which it would have, but the etherial connection to God, Source, whatever you might or might not call It. I believe we have souls. An AS would not. I ponder too, how the convergence of AI/AS with VR (virtual reality), and transhumanism will change us and everything. What indeed does the future hold for us? Time to go fishing.
I use the term 'conscious' and 'self aware' interchangeably.
I think that cats, dogs, horses and other 'intelligent' animals have souls too.
There is likely a transition between those animals who do or do not have souls...
or...perhaps some have bigger (more sophisticated...sapient?) souls than others.
Agreed. And consciousness is not just a singular state, but seems to be a progressive, tiered state. I too believe animals, and even plants have consciousness... some more than others. As far as souls, I have a different perspective than most in our Western Judeo/Christian culture. All things are ensouled. Ah, but I ramble.
I see no evidence for plants..frogs, or even reptiles.

I've glanced at articles lately that indicate machines are interfacing with human minds on a limited basis. However as far as I know there is not yet a reciprocal link from human to machine. But that bridge may be crossed too. Indeed, were the link to be made, it would certainly expand our accessible intelligence. But intelligence and consciousness are two separate things.

On reading the article, it seems the old GIGO rule still applies.
How about instead of trying to distill truth without bias, there is a probability of accuracy score using all available information.
Even with the factually perfect article you still have to get past what Dale Carnegie said, ‘A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still’.

the Savant Software only has so much to work with.
it takes what it gets, analyzes it...then writes a summary.
best it can do with what it has.
I do that myself...I read dozens if not hundred of articles a day (scan really)
and 'analyze' them in my head.
