First Comic Book Recommendation from RawbinHutt: Saga

Today I will write my first comic book recommendation here on Steemit!

Before we start

If you read my introduction post, you will know that I love Batman comics. There will be recommendations of those soon. But you might also have noticed me mention Saga. An epic space fantasy, that I would recommend to any comic book fan.

What is Saga?

Saga centers on Alana and Marko. Two soldiers stuck on two sides of a galactic war between their two respective races. One day, against all odds, they fall in love and soon enough, they become parents. Instead of fighting each other as they were destined to do, they must run from the all-encompassing and all-destroying war.

Saga blends fantasy, science fiction and space opera in en epic mix og gripping excitement, violence, sex and incredible charming characters. The story covers every topic from hate between races, sexuality, gender roles and war, but at no point does these topics feel forced down your throat, as is sometimes the case when dealing with themes such as these.

Overall, it is great writing by Brian K. Vaughan but on top of that, Fiona Staples’ drawings of the strange and crooked creatures and worlds are quite remarkable and memorable.

Recommending this comic book?

I would wholeheartedly recommend any science fiction, fantasy, space opera or just comic book fan to read Saga, if you have not already done so. Following our two protagonists go through hell to fight for their right to stay together, gets a little bit dark but warms your heart and leaves you craving more. I do not think you will regret it.

A small PSA: I would not recommend this comic book for children because of above-mentioned themes.
