Now onto Invincible

One my of my absolute favorite superhero comics is Invincible - written by non-other than Robert Kirkman, the writer of The Walking Dead.

The young Mark Grayson wants to be like his ultra-powerful father Omni-Man. One day Mark discovers he possesses similar powers, and starts flying around beating up bad guys like a younger Superman. However, Mark is not Superman, he is Invincible and Invincible’s universe is brutal, strange and over the top ridiculous.

Mark has many difficulties with adjusting to the superhero life. His father and the world around him has high expectations of Mark’s powers, but his enemies does not wait, and soon the rulers of the universe enslave earth.

Invincible succeeds in being fun, touching, very hard-hitting and completely insane all at once. The relationship between the characters turns deeper than you will initially expect, and the comic hooks you in. I will absolutely recommend Invincible to fans of superhero comics who are looking for a “lot more crazy” in comparison to Superman.

In a way Invincible parodies other comics in the genre, but it also does so much more, making it stand on its own as an epic superhero adventure.
