The CRUCIFIX Passion Flower & the STORY behind the way it looks!

An incredible name for a flower found at a coincidental location!

This is the

CRUCIFIX FLOWER

Spanish Christian Missionaries adopted this flower for its many separate parts signifying Jesus' final on the Cross.

-10 Petals for HIS 10 disciples
-The pointy radius is for the Crown of Thorns
-The 5 anthers for the 5 wounds (4 to his body and one done by the lance)
-3 Stigmata for the 3 nails
-The chalice shape represents the Holy Grail
-Blue and White Color represent Heaven and Purity

I had no idea what the name of this flower was when I took the picture till after I showed a friend. I found it while visiting a village called Medjugorje where miracles and apparitions occur still today from the Virgin Mary.

I am not sure if it is indigenous or if it was purposely planted in this tiny town with cobblestone roads and buildings...nonetheless it made me stop and adore it!
