Rainbow Chard Stalks

in #colourfulphotography6 years ago (edited)

This is our entry to the colourful photography contest hosted by @juliank

Chard (Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris) also known as Swiss Chard is a great leafy green to grow in your garden.
There are various varieties and all of them are packed full of vitamins A, K, and C. When eaten raw they also have significant amounts of vitamin E and other dietary minerals such as magnesium, manganese, iron and potassium.

You can eat the whole plant, however, the leaves and stalks are usually prepared and eaten in separate recipes.

One recipe we use the stalks for is a Raw Herb Spread.
