Golden Showers, before Politics Enters the Picture … Chiang Mai, Thailand – Colourful Photography

In the temperate climes of my home country, the leaves start to turn colors in October, as the weather gets cooler and colder. 

Dazzling fall colors – in spring!

In Thailand, however, the weather does not get colder, or even much cooler.

Therefore, I was quite surprised to see these trees in Chiang Mai turn dazzling shades of gold and red, and start shedding their leaves. In early May, even!

As seen from my northern perspective

Now, I aint a botanist, but I eventually realized that it was probably NOT  the leaves that were turning colors; it was only the blossoms. This was happening, after all, in the spring. And when I took a closer look, it was obvious that the leaves were still green, and it was not the larger leaves  that were falling, but only the blossoms.   

Nevertheless, the colors were deeper and darker than those of any other blossoms I’ve ever seen, and they provided vivid accents to the urban street scene.

And, to a northerner like me, they sure looked like the brilliant and vibrant “fall colors”  of my homeland.   _{[Right-Click Here to Enlarge Photo]} Location – Chiang Mai, on Google Maps
