Best Places to Visit in Italy #2 - The Island of Burano

If you have been following my posts, I have started to share with you the amazing experience we had in Italy.

The second place that you might omit when traveling to Italy is the Island of Burano

Burano - Venice, Italy

Burano is a small island close to Venice. It is only accessible via ferry and its signature is the colorful fishing houses throughout the island.
In this small island, each family has a dedicated color which they paint their houses with. The reason for this action goes back in the time when communication services were not available. As most of the residence of the island are fishermen, they wanted to have a simple way to find the family member of the fishing crew in case they needed to inform the family about a tragic event happened to the crew member.

On the island, we experienced a new food, Fish Lasagna. As a Lasagna lover, I would recommend tasting it, but it definitely can not beat meat lasagna. So don't expect a fantastic taste but you'll find it interesting.
