The most common and oldest all time best selling sneaker in world. More than half of all Americas have owned a pair in their lifetime. Yes I’m talking about the Converse All Star “CHUCK TAYLOR” basketball shoe.

It was first designed in 1917 and made by a company called Converse Rubber Corporation. The company’s main production was a basic work shoe. To keep the company running throughout the year, they introduced the all time world popular baseball shoe. The shoes were originally made in a brown color with black trim.

Gaining in popularity in around the 1920s the All Star was introduced in black canvas and leather .To keep up with the rapid increase in sales the company decided to mass produce the shoe, and the first mass producing plant in North America was Born.

When Charles H .Taylor a baseball player from Akron Firestone joined the sales teams in 1921 the brand need a face. He travelled all around America hosting baseball and his favourite shoe, All Stars. The company never looked back and in 1932 redesigned the shoes and added the name “Chuck Taylor” to the ankle patch.

The first white hi-top boot was introduced during the 1936 Olympics. The more eye-catching black with white sole hi-top was sold after the Second World War.

Today THE Converse All Star “Chuck Taylor” is sold in more than 160 countries and boosts sales of 270 000 a day.
