Johnny Jump Up for Indigo Saturday Color Challenge
Here is a pretty little Johnny Jump Up or Viola for Indigo Day.
I saw these on a outing in the mountains of North Carolina in June.
There is some debate on what shade indigo really is, but I decided this flower is closer to indigo that violet!
I'm only posting this one photo today.
It looks like some insect munched one of the petals!
These small and delicate flowers make a big impact, you can’t go wrong with johnny jump ups.
They come in many colors!
They are also called viola, wild pansy and heart’s ease.
The johnny jump up is a relative of the pansy.
Pansies are planted here in North Texas in late October and can survive the winter, if it doesn't go too far below freezing!
Johnny Jump Ups can take much higher temps and you see these growing in the spring and summer.
Have a great Saturday!
