Color Challenge - Monday Red
Red is one of the first colours lost in the colour spectrum as you descend deeper into the ocean. In the Pacific Northwest there are very few species that are red in colour but in a lot of ways it acts as a way to camouflage their existence in plain sight.
Vermillion Rockfish are a brilliant red and only when struck by a divers light do you see how fantastic these fish really look. The colouration of these fish at depth make them look almost grey and invisible to other fish that can not see the red spectrum. Vermillions live quite deep which help them hide even better.
When photograhping these fish be mindful of their personal space. These fish will quickly date to safty if you approach to quickly. Be patient and wait for them to come to you.

Amazing.Thanks for the post.I have heard that some sea fishes have transparent body .Is that true?if so they too will be invisble for other fishes right?
