Colorchallenge: Wednesday Yellow
Happy Hump Day Folks!
Make love not war, seriously. Or eat fruit. In this case, mango; white pirie to be precise. I would describe the taste as creamy sweet with a hint of citrus. I used to climb our tree when I was younger but otherwise never really appreciated it. Last year I decided to water it regularly and fertilize it. We were rewarded with a huge amount of delicious fruit and I got to share it with many people. I actually got tired of having to dispense the fruit. Even the parrots stayed away for some reason. I think they must have found an alternate crop somewhere.
Ripens fast, must give away!
Personally, I can’t eat too much of it since my body can’t handle the acidity. However, I can’t resist its amazing flavor.
Sweet enough with out ice cream but why not?
White pirie never gets really colorful although it sometimes develops a beautiful, mellow pinkish color on top of the usual yellow. Once some yellow appears, it ripens quickly so one must be diligent about picking them before they fall. They bruise really easily which is why you won’t find this variety in the market.
Out fruit never gets much bigger than this.
This year, I decided to prune the tree aggressively since it was getting too wide. I am letting it rest for a season or two. The tree still produced many flowers so I know it is very strong. It is at least as old as I am. And now I am old enough to appreciate it.

Beware of those who are bitter,
for they will never allow
you to enjoy your fruit.

I love mango's I live in South Florida we get a few different kinds that grow here and many of my neighbors have trees that hang over the sidewalk I'm luck to get the yellow and the red and purple ones all within walking distance of my house. I like to freeze them and eat them slightly defrosted like a frozen fruit pop.
I Upvoted your “#ColorChallenge” post. I enjoy learning about new people and different cultures.
Any way if you and anyone reading this would like to see my #WednesdayYellow post

Mmm, love me some delicious mango's. I've heard Hawaii has hundreds of varieties.
There's a lot for sure. Almost every other house has a tree :)
