Purple colors in aurora.

In the northern latitudes the nothern lights is called Aurora Borealis on behalf of the Roman goddess of the dawn of Aurora and the Greek god of the northern wind of Boreas. Typically, this intense glow of a fluorescent green, sometimes reddish, color in the form of a structure resembling a folds of curtains or so-called strata that extend in the direction from east to west. "Curtain" of the aurora consists of a set of parallel rays aligned in accordance with the lines of force of the Earth's magnetic field - their pattern may change in the blink of an eye, and may remain stationary for many hours.

After ionization by charged particles, emitting waves of a certain spectral length corresponding to green (557.7 nm), or orange-red (630 nm) color. Nitrogen, however, produces particles that produce a glow of blue (428 nm) or violet-red hue. Blue and violet colors are rare enough for decent solar forces.
