ColorChallenge: ThursdayGreen - Celandine Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum) leaves
Early leaves of a celandine poppy hold droplets from a spring rain.
I'll write more about this North American native when it's in bloom in a few weeks, but I find the foliage beautiful, too. Emerging early on the forest floor under deciduous trees, this plant takes advantage of the early spring sun before the hardwoods leaf out and their shade after they do. The scruffy leaves adds a pleasing coarse texture to the woodland understory.
