Today's Weed News for May 11th 2018 #TASTINGROOMS
For today's weed news we go to the great state of Colorado.
The Colorado Assembly just approved HB 18-1258 which would legalize "consumption establishments" where people who just purchased some recreational weed can actually sit down and enjoy it.
All that the bill needs to become law is Governor Hickenlooper's signature. But will he sign it?
The so-called "consumption establishments" that the bill hopes to legalize, are very similar to "tasting rooms" at breweries, wineries, etc.
Such "tasting rooms" where visitors and patrons can sample and enjoy their wine or beer, are essential to the existence of many a winery and brewery.
Representative Jonathan Singer, who is one of the bill's main sponsors, believes that Hickenlooper's past experience as co-founder of the Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver may help him make a favorable decision on this issue.
If the bill does get signed, no one under 21 would be allowed into the consumption rooms and marijuana choices would be limited to vaping and edibles. Smoking would not be allowed on the premises. As far as concentrates go, sampling would be limited to a quarter gram and for edibles the limit will be 10 mg of THC each.
And yes, this does sound a little restrictive, but given that public consumption is outlawed altogether at the moment, it would still be a step in the right direction.

Haha when I first saw the hashtag I read it as Tastin' grooms which also sounds like it might be illegal in 30 something states lol.
It is a step in the right direction but Hickenlooper worries me. He has been a road block in the past but his position has changed a bit since 2012. I suspect he will sign but there is always a chance that he won't.
Agreed. he could go either way. I kinda feel like Colorado has had the FEDS eyeing it since the election, but now that Trump seems to be overriding Sessions on the cannabis issue, they may not have to worry as much while continuing to make cannabis history.
I hope so. Yeah I think Sessons thought the right would be on board with stopping legalization but that is a tough sell to any group these days.
