Here is my watercolour study for "Wrinkles in Time" no 32

It is for @everlove #creativeartjourney. I wanted to share this planned out piece before had. I shall have the finished piece done in time for the contest ending this Sunday 11 February. If you would like to enter please go here.

This is the full size of the study.

Here was the original image by @everlove that we were meant to use to inspire our piece:

Right away I saw I wanted to turn the image counterclockwise such as this:

And I immediately saw a mermaid green body going out into a pink tail. Here you can see how I cut out to show the drawing over where I see the body and the pink smoke to the right will be the tail. I have not sketched that in here as of yet but it will be in the final piece.

And here is the sketch:

I am working on the final piece in digital oils. Again, I am really loving taking on the challenge of two contests a week to really focus on them and use their guidelines to fit into my current series of fine art paintings focusing on the female figure as spirit or myth.

If you appreciate my work please feel free to upvote, resteem, and by all means comment.

Now you got me thinking, will I try out myself in this, since this looks like you had great fun @donnadavisart :)

It was fun and this was just the study, hopefully I will finish the final piece by tomorrow, the deadline. You should totally enter!

This one I am going to hang above my bed ...:)))

Aw, I hope the oil final version turns out, I'm about half way done and it's due day after tomorrow.

I love that purple. I am going to have to go out and purchase purple running shoes now.
Today I threw all caution to the wind and went ice skating.

I love ice skating but every year I talk myself out of it because I don't want to full and hurt my knees! I guess that's even more important for a runner!

Well I don't skate as fast as I used to. Getting older now. It's like riding a bike though. You don't really forget. You must get out there.. soon :)))

Luckily it's finally warming up here, but I could always go to the ice rink for open skate. I have been so sedentary, but usually come March first I am like a great hibernating bear, I smell that first flush of Spring and I am out the door and busy until Christmas!

Hee. yes well despite all my bravado and my posts, there are many days I talk myself out of running or even walking, let alone skating. lying in front of the fire on the couch with a good book is nice, with tea, coffee, or wine. At least you paint. :))) I will have to look up a Maine race one of these days.

I am super duper excited about this piece @donnadavisart! This is a really fabulous interpretation of my image. Your drawing fits so perfectly with the overall feel, and the mermaid's face is smooth like skin and so very real. I can't even imagine how you will make this better. I'm excited to see what you bring forth! Woohoo.....!!!

That's really impressive that you do two contests a week! I feel like contests like these are really good for training your problem-solving skills. I really like your solution to this image. Looking forward to seeing this finished piece.

I try to be as prolific as I can manage, another resolution from two years ago was to do art every day for that year. The habit has stuck with me.

These contests have just enough guide to allow me to address a work like I would normally and also opens me up to new ideas. The Technology painting has me now thinking of doing a few works with robots in, something I would not have normally done. But the guild of Technology in my mind went to the figure and of my latest obsession with doing the female form as spirit and myth and now I'd like to do a few.

The community and interchange of art and ideas on Steemit is really good. It's like the fun bits of art school having someone give you a guideline but then allowing you to interpret in your own style and way.

That's awesome. I think it's so important to have personal projects/set goals for yourself. As an artist you never stop growing and learning so, like you said, it's like having the structure of school that allows you to continue growing as an artist. And Steemit has been such an amazing outlet; it's really great to be connected to so many artists. It's both informative and inspriing.

WOW. my dear friend,
this is an excellent work. Great participation for the competition. You are very creative. congratulations

I am bookmarking this page, because when I start to take water color class, that's what I want to try.
I personally feel contests are mainly to help minnows and to have people get to know you and I stopped to take part of it (also because I don't have any arty skills).
Wish you good luck
