There are a number of other debit cards that offer better (and usually zero) fees for buying things with your bitcoins. If Coinbase is getting greedy, drop them and get a different card.

Yeah, Coinbase is getting greedy. That's the problem with raising capital from VC's. They don't care about customers or service, they care about quick and clean ROI. That's why I have never accepted VC money, it's a death sentence.
That said, you can still deposit via ACH from your bank for 0.0% and buy bitcoin. But looks like the days of quick and cheap "Instant Buy" is gone. Their loss...
