Today I followed Frank Fradella to continue learning folds. If you are interested in this, you may also refer to my previous post about drapery and some types of common folds.

首先想象一下在裤管里放一个柱状体-

Let's picture a tubular in the pants and see how fabric reacts when there is an objects inside it.

裤子的料子是软的，所以它会随着柱状体的形状变得起伏，起旋转式波浪，而不再是直的。

Fabric is soft, it reflects the shape of the tubular inside it and becomes wavy. It is no longer straight.

同样道理，如果我们把手臂或者把膝盖弯起来，也可以看到不同的褶子形状。 另外请想象在折衣房里，折半折的形状。这也是画褶里的一种。

Same theory. If we bend our arms or knees, you will see where the resistance is, and the half lock fold at the corner of the knee. Imagine in the laundry room folding a small rag from two points, generating a diaper fold.

注：手的形状在这里不是重点。以后会着重手的画法。

Note: hand shape is not key object here. I will explain how to draw hand in a later post when I get there.

如果画褶的技能学会了话，哪怕没有画上人的具体形象，你也可以看到衣服下面人的形状。看看这对隐形男女。像谁呢？ 是否让你的想象放飞了呢？ 是否让你想到了自己和自己另一半初次约会？ 如果真能起到这个效果的话，那说明这画还是成功的。

If you do it right, even with drawing just the clothing on people, just by the folds in the cloths, you should be able to see the figure beneath it. Can you see the invisible man met the invisible girl in this picture. Did it allow your mind to fly? did it remind you of your first date with your partner? If it did, it means that you did it right.

最后强调： the least you need to know as Frank Fredella suggested

1. 布料的折法画法都是基于张力和非张力的原理。

Folds in fabric are created by resistance and the lack thereof。

2. 褶子在抽真空的情况下是不存在的。 它是动态学里的另一种折法。

Folds do not exist in a vacuum, they meld into other folds in a dynamic fashion

3. 我们在平时可以多练习。家里的任何事物都可以成为我们绘画的目标。 只要抓起铅笔和纸，多观察，看褶的方向和光线走势，利用阴影就可以达到立体的效果。

You can practice with everyday objects, everything in the house can become your objects. As long as you grab your pan and paper, observe carefully and follow the direction of the light, use shade, you can achieve 3 dimensional effects.
