Lunar New Year 年• 味 | 月旦评

Happy Lunar New Year! This morning, when I woke up, I reloaded the website and I found so many friends join in this reunion dinner photography held by me and @mrpointp. It seems popular. Now, I’d like to share a group of photos taken in my old home. I call it Nián Weì(which means the phones full of new year’s atmosphere).

祝大家农历新年快乐！今天起床，看到大家陆陆续续都在晒年夜饭~看来这个活动响应得不错😊！我也来凑凑热闹，分享一组我拍的照片，取名为“年 • 味”。

Reunion dinner 团圆饭👪

Because of my work, I seldom go to my old home, letting alone enjoy such home-made dishes! All the dishes you can see are made by my dear uncle. Every year he comes back, all of us can enjoy these special delicacies.

由于工作在外，很少回老家，更不必说能吃到老家的饭菜了。这顿年夜饭是我亲爱的舅舅一人烹饪完成的，每年都是他回来给我们做可口的饭菜。

Pasting Spring Festival couplets 贴春联✨

The red Spring Festival couplets belong to a kind of couplets. We always paste them on the both sides of the door, which is our tradition and expresses our wish to drive away bad luck and prepare for the coming good luck. The photos are my elder cousin and his daughter who are pasting couplets.

喜庆的大红春联是对联的一种，在春节时张贴春联，已经成为了我们的传统，表达了汉族劳动人民一种辟邪除灾、迎祥纳福的美好愿望。上面的照片正是我表哥和他女儿（我侄女）在贴春联。

Pasting paper-cutting and the character “Fú” 贴窗花和福字💓

The character “Fú” means we are longing for a happy life and a better future, no matter when it is.

春节贴"福"字，无论是现在还是过去，都寄托了人们对幸福生活的向往，也是对美好未来的祝愿。

Make dumplings 包饺子 🥟

On the first day of the first lunar month, southerners begin to eat glutinous rice balls while northerners eat dumplings, except our family. Coins are usually wrapped in dumplings, and those who eat the ones are thought to have good luck.

正月初一这一天，南方人开始吃汤圆，而北方人吃饺子。当然，我们家例外，通常会将饺子里面包上硬币，吃到的人被认定要交好运。

Ancestor worship 祭祖🙇🏼‍♂️

Before the reunion dinner, there is a special ceremony, that is, ancestor worship. No one can be absent from it. We do this to remember relatives long deceased and to enjoy the memories.

大年夜最重要的一个仪程，是祭祖，决不能无理缺席。团年饭，不仅仅是寓意合家团圆吉祥，也更是生动的传承家族文化的一课。所谓树高千丈，叶落归根。祭祖，起的就是这个作用。
