My journey to Europe (2) - Manchester //

in #cn7 years ago

Oh wait, why it is (2)? Well actually I have published my first travel post here nearly a month ago, which marks the beginning of my journey to Europe. Yeah I was a bit lazy and now let's continue the travel diary.

Since I lived in an apartment rented by my friends which is very far away from the city center of Manchester, we had to buy a day ticket in order to travel to and from the city center. A day rider cost 4 pounds, which was quite expensive!

Let me introduce some places to visit in Manchester to all of you! :)

1. John Rylands Library

The John Rylands Library is a neo-Gothic building built in 1899, currently being part of the University of Manchester. It has a large collection of rare books and manuscript, and is one of the Grade I listed buildings in the UK. Besides its magnificent appearance, the interior architecture was nicely preserved and absolutely stunning!

2. Manchester Town Hall

The City Council is located at the Manchester City Hall. Manchester City Hall is a new Gothic building completed in 1877, renovated and expanded in 1938. It became a Grade I listed building in 1952. There are some light effects at night, which makes the building particularly beautiful!

3. Didsbury Park

One of the most commonly seen facilities in UK is parks. I have been to several parks in Manchester and I would recommend the Didsbury Park. It is a good leisure activity to spend an afternoon walking around in this park, chatting with friends or maybe even having a picnic!

In my opinion Manchester does not have a lot of attractive spots for tourists, but is still a good place to relax and experience the culture there. I would be heading to the University of Nottingham to begin my semester in my next travel diary!
