RE: 爱:“谷哥点名” 第四期活动/ love

This is exactly what I was trying to avoid in my translated posts - which is why I took a great deal of time to reword and rephrase every sentence - over and over again - until google translate was itself able to repeatedly translate the sentence back and forth from Chinese into English and back again in a way that I could understand clearly and with appropriate syntax in english.

Having said that, it appears that two of my posts were less than ideally translated nonetheless - although it isn't clear to me, because I am coming at it with only one side of the lingual ability, to what extent the translations were off.

However, I think my first post appears to have been very accurate and acceptably translated, which is why I attempted to do it twice more. I will be posting comprehensively when I have several hours to write, about how I made all three of those posts.

Sort:

I mean your idea of going back and forth for the translation is a great idea, and that your first post really does looks much more like a real translated articles, but apparently it cannot reestablish the result like the first post, so definitely need more ways to refine, but that's a good experiment you done there!! looking to see your post explaining what happened.

This part are is also for those commenters who just spam many cn posts with the google translated comments, and theirs are not trying to do what you are doing but spamming half the comment area

I agree that the translation is not sufficiently reproducible for my own comfort as a poster. And definitely just copying and pasting English in block into google translate is nonsense. For my money, I'm not going to be posting in CN again using even the more detailed method for at least six months.

The interesting thing is that the neural network being used by google translate may allow for substantial increases in accuracy over time. So we'll see in the mid term future how this same method looks.

I want to make the longer post in four different languages - but it will take a half day to write. If I have time I may begin it tomorrow.

it is definitely a good experiment, but I think maybe other form of translating too, with better AI might serve better than google, say if it is possible to mix siri with google translate or something?? and reverse translate that together. maybe will be able to generate something close~

That's a very interesting idea - basically making it into a three or four way conversation between three different translation apps. That might be a novel use of AI translation. I wonder if the overall result is more accurate...
