I CRUSH DEAD PEOPLE
(...and yeah. I know the subtitle on the picture doesn't match the steemit post. I suddenly realize that "The CrushTH Sense" was funnier, and I didn't want to change the picture.)
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! WE'RE BACK!!
I've been trying to slow down a bit on the crushening posts there. I forgot how much ARC climbing there was at the start, and it got a bit overwhelming, I think. At least, it was overwhelming for me. Gettin' tired from the gym, getting tired from work, gettin' tired from writing. Just getting tired, yknow? So we switched it up, and we're gonna try to wrap a couple of these posts together every now and then.
We've been going pretty hard out there.
We're coming off of three days in a row again.
- Our fingers are creaking and clicking;
- Our skin is rough;
- Our toes have gotten tender;
- We smell kinda bad; and
- WE COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.

Check out that calendar! We're still on track, and we officially finished our last session of ARC training. It feels so good. We leapt (maybe drudged is a better word) straight over these ARC training hurdles for 4 weeks. And we did pretty damn alright! We got 3 bright green checkmarks and a shiny Bruce Willis head too!
We earned it, ladies and gentlemen!! Lets talk about the last couple sessions!
What were we supposed to do??
- Day 22
- 3x30min ARC sessions w/ rest in between;
- Bit of bouldering at the end;
- Day 23
- 3x30min ARC sessions w/ rest in between;
- Bit of bouldering at the end;
- Day 24
- 2x30min ARC sessions w/ rest in between;
- Bit of bouldering at the end;
WELL HOW'D IT GO ALREADY!?
DAY 21!? CRUSHED IT!
I shared this one this morning, but that's okay. BECAUSE WE'VE GOT MORE!!!
This one was less impressive... More gritty volumes...
ARC training went really well. Cruised through all three sets with energy to spare on some solid bouldering at the end. We got crazy crazy sweaty, but we did it. We're getting some serious aerobic exercise in -- and we can feel it!
DAY 22!?? CRUSHED IT!
Yeah more or less, things were crushed.
Lets be honest here. The gym was absoloutely BUMPING today. The rain drove all the (gym)rats inside. It was warm. It was sweaty. It was way too busy to try to find an autobelay for 30 minutes straight, three times. So @somebuttstuff and I spent the evening climbing harder stuff on top-rope. Thrashing hard on some stout 5.11+ climbing got the blood pumping, and a workout was validated! Bouldering at the end to produce the gif above.
DAY 24!? YOU KNOWWWW WE CRUSHED IT!!
Sloppy sloppy slopers
The first set of the ARC session today went well. Thirty minutes down smooth. I'm definitely fighting off a bit of a cold, but I managed to muster up whatever energy I could find. It got pretty busy near the end of resting after the first set, so we decided to just do 20 minutes for the 2nd set, and finish off with some bouldering.
Team, it feels so good to have made it through this ARC training window. That doesn't mean it's gonna get any easier though. Workouts will be slightly less frequent, as the strength phase puts emphasis on always having a rest day in between workouts -- but they're gonna get harder.
Dead hangs. Pull ups. Squats. Handstands. Planks. We'll get into the details soon!
Today, In my space that I reserve down here for cool climbing stuff, I'm gonna share an article I found from Gripped Magazine from way back in the dark ages of 2006! A gentleman named Stu Smith shared a video on Vimeo of him climbing the CLASSIC - MUST DO route 51 Hotdogs at my hometown crag in Kelowna, BC. This route is super fun, has a bit of terrifying exposure as you do some delicate footwork traversing away from the wall, and was the first 5.11a I've climbed on lead. This route is special to me.
Without further ado:

Be well, stay safe, and I'll see you on the sharp side (once it dries out around here).

The Query!
I'm trying to figure out how the best way to get people active and involved in the climbing community on here. Paying for upvotes is super tedious, and there must be a better way to get the people goin'!
There's all sorts of contests on here -- some I'm considering incorporating something of that sort to these posts. Let me know what you think. It could be something like "whoever shares the coolest ( or funniest / scariest / gnarliest ) climbing related story ( or picture / video / poem / meme) gets 0.25 SBD (or more / less / half of post SBD)". Let me know what you think would be cool. We could mix it up and do climbing inspired art or something? I like to draw. Maybe we'll do something like that? LETS TALK.
Please vote and resteem generously. There's some amazing places on the island that I would like to share.
I try to respond to all questions and comments that I get, so make some noise! If you have any questions about some of the climbing jargon / lingo I used, just ask, and I'll break it down. I might even make it a feature in my next post, in which case I'll give you some credit, and maybe even some kind of reward... unknown at this time -- nobody has asked any questions... Yet!!
That yellow route looks nice. Same with the pink that you were climbing. Also the green slopers.... who am I kidding, I just want more stuff to climb hahahahah
Haha yeah I know what you mean. They're all fun and I just want limitless routes and energy to climb!
Absolutely fabulous write up It is so nice and refreshing to see like minded people who also have a passion for climbing / bouldering , I am also a climber myself , I have followed you and up-voted you be nice if we vould stay in touch , dee
Thanks for the follow and nice words! I'll keep an eye out for some climbing stuff from you to!
Fabulous that would be nice lets get the climbing Tag noticed :) , Stay in touch
Awesome article for a beginner like me!! Thank you! :D
Thanks for stopping and having a read! How long have you been climbing for now?
I was climbing only on the real stones haha, but it was way easier than what I see in the pics. I've been into mountains and adventure since I was very young as my parents had this in the blood so probably somewhere at 10 years or so. It's just that I have a lot of strength in my legs but my arms not really so that's why I want to get on a place with climbing walls :)
I feel like I should smash a beer can on my forehead whenever I finish reading these.
That means it's working! DO IT DO IT DO IT.

If you are into a super sloppy sloppy slopers boulder you should try the boulder i set yesterday! The black one is a real sloper-compression boulder somewhere around hard v9.
Oh man that looks absoloutely gnarly! I can see the moves, but I know it's way out of my rantge. hahaha.
How long have you been setting for?
It's also out of my range. Hopefully I can do all the moves after some tries, but linking them will be a nightmare.
I've been setting one evening a week for 6 years now. In my 'setting-career' the highlight was setting for the Dutch national championship a couple of years ago.
