RE: My 1982 Ford Capri MK3 Restoration (Modified)

in #classiccars8 years ago

I come from a family of body/paint, and mechanics. My moms father and her brothers ran a body shop, supported 3 families! My ex husband is a gifted machanic and I think the talent is genetic, my son has the same gift...I can smell the burnt oil and paint looking at your awesome photos, great job! So glad you came back🏎

That's cool! though I'm no mechanic, I just know my way round a capri because I grew up with them and, like you, had mechanics around me so I know a little but only ever worked on capri's in this way. My mechanic is my trusted friend who is a specialist, I did the stripping, sanding, sourcing parts, replaced some engine parts and sprayed the engine bay, boot etc, fitted some replacement parts but the real work such as welding and fitting parts like the a-post, wing, respray, exhaust etc are all the work of my friend, so I had help. I haven't got a mechanical mind, but I do love the beginning and end parts haha and the overall creative elements to it. I've had other cars but have zero interest in them really lol. Thanks reddust, happy to see you still creating and I will try to post more often. Cheers! :)

We must be twins, I swear it! I'm so happy you're back from your hiatus.

Haha, happy to be back, and loving your art as always. I need to get doing some more island posts. I got busy trying to put some roots down on the island, earning money, but I plan to go walking around Europe in spring/early summer so I reckon i'll be posting consistently then. Good to see you! :D

My brother and brother-in-law love paint and body work. My hubby is a total motor head. I have some great youth memories of tinkering with the cars and crawling under them with my dad whenever he was working on them. Maybe that's where I got my love of cars and tools? lol
