From ancient Greece to Max Reger - Four Short Organ Improvisations

I recorded these improvisations on my iPhone tonight after practicing at the church. As the title of this post implies, the musical influences heard here are eclectic.

The four improvisations are "Prelude," "Pastorale," "Bells," and "Ave Maria."

"Prelude" is an improvisation that in many ways was very much influenced by Max Reger.

"Pastorale" is a slow, rather melancholy improvisation in D major. The meter alternates between 9/8 and 6/8.

"Bells" is a sort of toccata using the organ's MIDI carillon stop. The toccata is based mostly on my beloved Olympos Pentatonic Scale - an ancient Greek scale.

"Ave Maria" is a quiet, devotional work featuring a solo Flute 8' melody over a Vox Humana accompaniment.

I hope you enjoy these new improvisations!
