My 3 favorite musicians on Steemit and why I use smartsteem

I'm thinking for some time now that some people might feel bad that I am buying votes for my posts through smartsteem.

It is voting my posts with a more powerful vote than mine and it guarantees a positive ROI of 15%.

I would like to explain that this has to do with the value of my posts in my perception. Classical music is not popular. For most people it's much easier to listen and vote for a song with lyrics (preferably one they already know) rather than classical music. (I am thinking seriously about playing modern music too). The standard band (drums-bass-guitar-vocals) music grasps easier most people's interest.

But I practice a lot for playing my guitar. It's countless hours of practice. I try to fit my practice hours in an exhausting day of working, spending quality time with my family and doing even gardening or woodworking. And when I record something it's 20 or more takes to have a proper video with no editing.

So, I believe that any classical music performance is worth more than 1-2 $. And it has to be supported because it's hard played music.

So, here are my 3 favorite musicians who I will keep supporting because I know they work really hard for these vids:

(the order is from lower to higher reputation)

@mayneth with a reputation of 27 plays many instruments but I see he loves the Venezuelan cuatro. His technique and his integrity is worth a lot more:

@talmid with a reputation of 46 seems to be in a similar situation with me. He doesn't post often, but when he does he is just great. This week we happened to have the same idea of playing the Etude No.1 by H. Villa-Lobos. Well...there is no point to listen to mine, just listen to this:

@digitalopus with a reputation of 60 he is a master of the mandolin. I should make a cd of his music to listen in my car. This is so well played music:

These 3 guys came to my mind spontaneously. I will continue these posts because there are more I need to mention.

(To be continued...)

What can I say in your kind words? I've had that idea in mind for many years now regarding the music we play, since I'm in Steemit my life has changed for the better and since I have the support of @dsound, @prc, and more recently @classical-music, @artzone and @musicvoter, it's been even better, because I feel like my efforts and years of study are finally taken into account. As far as commercial music is concerned, I didn't want to touch on that subject because I didn't want to hurt some feelings, but you do it in the best way and with respect. Next month I will be one year old at Steemit and I will make a post about my experiences and the people who have supported me and of course you will be there. Thank you so much!

There is NOTHING I can offer to the world in the way of classical performance. I will, however, persist in writing my own music. Much of it is in popular forms, hard rock, folk, jazz, "easy listening", frequently with lyrics, standard song-writing with no commercial potential, but as necessary to me personally as eating, nearly as much as breathing.
However, every bit of my effort in instructing my students is in the direction of inculcating advanced technique (especially classical, but jazz and other traditional sources offer important contributions of technique and inspiration) as a primary tool to shape their musical development.
Perhaps what you're complaining about the relatively unpopularity (and therefore low payouts on Steemit, or any of the streaming services) of classical music is not due to the "hard playing" (requirement for immense effort in time and work to attain a modicum of quality in technical development), but due to it's "hard listening" (a sobriquet someone coined decades back I've always loved.) I think we'll always face the uphill battle, even with our own selves and ordinary inclinations, of the popular versus our limited niches of enthusiasm.
Thanks for your effort to promote those you believe bring some positive quality of contribution to the platform. I also try to do the same in my halting fashion, but I don't have any resources to speak of.
And thanks for recommendations of new people to check out. In return, Perhaps I haven't brought much of value here to Steemit, but at least I twisted @somtow 's tail sufficiently to get him to sign up, as all of his work I've encountered since the 1970s in writing and music I've thought of considerable value.

Actually we are saying the same thing. I didn't say that popular music is something lower than classical, so I'm not complaining. I just said that in my opinion any classical music performance is worth more than 1-2 $. By saying this I justify that I buy myself some votes.

I enjoy most normal genres of music and I would like to listen some of your music (except if it's rap or electronic :p). Steemit needs active tyrannosaurs too!

I have also bought upvotes using the same service and I do not have a problem with it for the very reason you mention. Nearly all the profits I make go back into either @MusicVoter or this account and I believe that buying upvotes for genuine, high quality content should not be frowned upon.

There are a lot of people doing far worse things on Steemit. They are the ones people should be concentrating on and flagging!
