Almaty
I worked in Almaty from 1999‑2001 as a translator. This was the view from my apartment. Most of the time the mountains weren't visible, but when they were? It was spectacular! This is the Tien Shan mountain range, forming a natural border with China. It was also the name of the local beer. I did drink rather a lot of that!
