For The Champions Of The Hearts

As you all probably already know at recent football World Cup Croatia won the second place. So, they were not the world football champions for 2018, but the team with their excellent play, fearless and passionate lion's spirit and their sincere modesty won not only the heart of the whole Croatian nation but as well the hearts of the world.

About two weeks ago, it was Monday, July 16 when the Croatian football team arrived back home from Rusia. The people of Croatia who gathered in Zagreb (a country capital) from all over the place, prepared them such a remarkable welcome that media could compare it only with the welcome for the first visit of Pope John Paul II to the country, back in 1994.

Hundreds and thousands of people were on the streets all the way through from the airport to the main square where the central welcoming party has been organized, the distance that we would otherwise pass in 20 or 30 minutes tops, that day the football team was going for long six hours.

All that time the crowd that was already at the main square has been waiting patiently, singing and celebrating. And when the team finally arrived, although even the rain started in the meantime, and no matter if someone had the umbrella or not, people were still there greeting their heroes, silver football champions, but golden champions of their hearts!

As I was there too, I managed to catch that happy rainy moment!

The foreign reporters said this Croatian phenomenon of celebrating the second place in the World Cup with such a huge welcome the whole country prepared for the team, and without a single incident, they can't either adequately describe or even less explain to their viewers, listeners or readers in their domicile countries.
