Cigar review: Jose l. Piedra Brevas

Cigars

On the right you can see the Jose l. Piedra brevas, as you can see it’s visibly darker and with another wrapper leaf than the smaller petit cetros from the same manufacturer that you can see to the left.

It’s beautifully wrapped, and had a very pleasant cold smoke, with a lot of nutty and some citrusy flavors.

This gave a very pleasant beginning, not much taste of ammonia, and a very easy draw for such a big cigar. It gives you some time to get to know it a little for the first five or so minutes. Then it starts to evolve into more earthy tones.

The next ten or so minutes had a really good profile evolving from light earthly tones to, more leathery and decomposing notes which kept on further into really dark tones. But yet it didn’t feel overpowering.

It kept on in this way for another 10-15 minutes before it started to get quite nutty in between the dark tones, and with some refreshing citrus. Before it went really sour about 50 minutes in, so I didn’t continue smoking the nub past the band.
