NUMERICAL VALUES OF HEBREW LETTERS

in #christianity6 years ago

In English, our alphabet differs from our numbering system. We read English letters but we count with Arabic (1,2,3) or Roman (I,II,III) numerals. In Hebrew, the letters also represent numbers. Gematria involves reading words and sentences as numbers, assigning numerical instead of phonetic value to each letter of the Hebrew alphabet

Many of us are familiar with Roman numerals. Let us determine the numerical value of the word livid using Gematria:

LIVID = 50 (L) + 1 (I) + 5 (V) + 1 (I) + 500 (D) = 557

THE ANTICHRIST

This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666. Revelation 13:18

Seven is the number of heavenly perfection. Six is the number of man, who was created on the sixth day, and who falls short of the glory of God because of sin (Romans 3:23).

The Antichrist, the man of sin, falls short (6) body, (6) soul, and (6) spirit. In other words, he is totally sinful, depraved and against all that is good, righteous, and holy.

According to the modes of rabbinical interpretation, Sod סוֹד ("secret or mystery") – means that the mystical or hidden meaning can be arrived at by investigating the correlation of Hebrew letters, numerical values, unusual spellings, transposing letters and reinterpreting words, etc. In other words, this level assumes that God hides the deepest meanings in the smallest letters or number values of the Hebrew words.

Sod is the method of interpretation used to identify the Antichrist. To compute the number of the Antichrist, his name must be written out in Hebrew so that the value of each letter of his name is determined and then added together. The total sum will be 666.

THE SON OF DAVID

Matthew's Gospel is the first Gospel and the first book of the New Testament. It thus provides the bridge between the shadows of the law and the prophets in the Old Testament pointing to Messiah and the substance and fulfillment of the messianic hope in the person of Jesus Christ in the New Testament. Matthew’s genealogy is presented to affirm the royal line of Jesus as the prophesied “Son of David.”

Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah. Matthew 1:17

Writing to a Jewish audience, Matthew arranges his genealogy into three groups of 14 names each.

David דָוִ֔ד in Hebrew Gematria is summed from the three Hebrew letters:

Dalet ד (Gematria 4), Vav ו (Gematria 6) and Dalet ד (Gematria 4), giving a total Hebrew Gematria of 14.

King David’s name has three letters whose value is 14. Matthew underscores Jesus’ right to David’s throne by arranging the royal line in three groups of 14 generations.
