RE: IS CHRISTIANITY A RELIGON?// MY SUMMATION.

in #christianity7 years ago (edited)

Christ hated tradition and religion. So do I, as a someone who accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour.

1 Peter 1:18-19, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Jesus hated the pharasees (religion) - endless verses prove.

Finally - the Father says: AMOS 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

Sort:

Ok. May God grant us the grace to follow him.

I don't think there is evidence that Christ hated tradition itself. Paul wrote:

2 Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

Also,

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

There is nothing wrong with tradition or religion as long as they are of God and not man.

Religion is a system of faith and worship. A system of faith and worship was given to the Jews by God through Moses. Christ followed the law of Moses perfectly and upheld all the commands of God, he followed his religion perfectly. I don't believe that Christ would hate what his Father, our God, created and gave to him.
