Agreed. More has to be done in this regard, and it is a shame that it happens all over the internet too. The line between creating and sharing content has gotten blurrier in this time given what technology can do (Facebook, blogs, personal web sites). Here's one recent article on the problem with images on Steemit:

There is also, I believe, going to be more done to provide Steemit users with a library of free images, and they recently offered some pay to stock photographers:
