THINGS THAT MOVE GOD #3
There is an interesting but sad story in the bible about the king of Moab. When He realised he couldn't win a great battle with just a sword and hundreds of Soldiers, he offered the life of his son as sacrifice. As helpless as he was, he taught of a way of strengthening his defence and that was to offer something of great price.
And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not. Then he took his eldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering upon the wall; and there was great indignation against Israel. So they departed from him and returned to their own land. 2 Kings 3:26-27 NKJV
If an evil sacrifice could release a great evil against God's people then I wonder what a holy sacrifice offered wholeheartedly can do. Many a times we take offering for granted. There is an inherent power in offering when we do it wholeheartedly. God is moved when we offer our substances to Him wholeheartedly.
Why does God still require offering from us when the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein? We must understand that God requires nothing from us but always wants to test our heart. We are God's mouthpiece, handiwork, and until we move He cannot move.
God never needed a human sacrifice from Abraham but just to test his heart. If you can give anything at all to God then why can't God be moved to give you anything you want from Him. When Abraham moved, God also moved, for He said to Him:
“.....By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” Genesis 22:16-18 NKJV
Offer to God anything He requires from you.
