A GOOD NAME COUNTS - Lesson from the sales manageress

I went to a shop to purchase a 32" smart TV at Adum, Ghana. I met a white lady who happened to be the sales manageress and because she was so hospitable we got interactive for sometime. Then I asked for her suggestion if she was to choose between Samsung TV and LG TV.

She first told me about the prices and then asked about the amount I have on me. I sat still, pondering on which one to buy. When she noticed my silence, she perceived that I was confused.

Then she said to me both are equally good products and of high quality. I asked her which product she uses at home and she gave me a name which I have never heard before, for she made me aware it is a new product.

Then she gave a remarkable suggestion which I had not taught about or considered. She said, manufacturers don't joke with their names; they will do everything to protect their name.

''Any new manufacturer who wants to win over the market will first ensure that its product is of high quality, durable and affordable'' she said.

They will do all these to first get a "NAME". She continued, Samsung, LG and the rest we already know have a good name and they may charge exorbitant prices and we buy them anyway. She said to me, "I will rather choose a new manufacturer because they want to first of all maintain a good "NAME", as a result they will produce quality, durable and affordable product"

I was reflecting about what ensued between me and the white lady and then my attention was drawn to a scripture in the bible:

Proverbs 22:1 which says "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.”

If manufacturers are so much concerned about their name then God who manufactured you and I is also concerned about His name.

God doesn't joke with His name. Hear what Isaiah says about God and His identity:

“For My name’s sake I will defer My anger, And for My praise I will restrain it from you, So that I do not cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; For how should My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another. Isaiah 48:9-11

God cares so much about us, "His product" and will do everything not to cause damage to our lives. Though He will allow us to go through afflictions and suffering but He still uses that to refine us as part of His manufacturing and processing procedures. I encourage you today; anything you are going through is leading to the glory of God.

Any glory God gives to us goes back to glorify Him, this is why Jesus said Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify you: John 17:1.

God will do what he has to do in your life because of one thing, HIS NAME.
