THE NEED TO LOVE YOUR ENEMIES[MATTHEW.5:43-48, LUKE.6:27-36]📖📖
43. "You have heard that it was said, 'love your friends, hate your enemies.' (44). But i tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, (45). So that you may become the children of your father in Heaven. For his makes the sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and gives rqin to those who do good and to those who do evil.
(46). Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that! (47). And if you speak only to your friend have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that! (48). You must be perfect- just as your Father in heaven is perfect!
(27). " But i tell you who hear me: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, (28). Bless those you who curse you and pray for those who ill-treat you. (29). If anyone hits you on one cheek, let him hit the other one too; if someone takes your coat let him have your shirt as well.
(30). Give to everyone who ask you for something, and when someone takes what is yours, do not ask for it back. (31). Do for others just what you want them to do for you. (32). If you love only the people who love you, why should you receive a blessing? Even sinners love those who love them! (33). And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you receive a blessing? Even sinners do that!
(34). And if you lend only to those from whom you hope to get back, why should you receive a blessing? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount! (35). No! Love your enemies and do good to them; lend and expect nothing back. You will then have a great reward, and you will children of the most high God. For he is good to the ungrateful and wicked. (36). Be merciful just as your father is merciful.
Loving your enemy is not a very easy thing to do has a lay man because normally people tend to hate their enemies. But as Christian it should be quite easy because God is love and the love of God does not discriminate. Besides loving your enemies will give you peace of mind. If you hate your enemies, it does not always mkae you have peace of mind especially when you see them and this is not good because it can cause your health problems.
Has Christians also we need to love our enemies because God has enjoined us to do extra-ordinary things. Loving an enemy is something that is extra-ordinary because normally a lay human being tends to hate his enemy. It might be normal for one to hate his enemy, but nobody achieves anything significant doing normal things but extra-ordinary things.
Loving your enemies makes you extra-ordinary and when you do extra-ordinary things you have conquered the world and God will bless you. Shalom! @yaanivapeji
