"Above and Below Presence..." - Daily Word #68

When I was a younger believer the thought came to my vivid mind on "Why did God need so much Worship?" Is He a little insecure and in need of all that attention?

Or perhaps He is just full of Himself and need all the accolades being bathed upon Him Daily. I am so Great, I am so Holy, I am The Best. Ok Ok, I confess and repent now. But yes, I have a warped mind and a very creative one as well. LOL.

Today I continue on this "Presence" series to help us understand that GOD is both a Transcendent and Immanent being.

What does that mean?

Transcendent means “to exist above and independent from; to rise above, surpass, succeed.” By this definition, God is the only truly transcendent Being. The “LORD God Almighty” (in Hebrew, El Shaddai) created all things on the earth, beneath the earth and in the heavens above, yet He exists above and independent from them. Source

Immanece means "existing or operating within; inherent." The immanence of God refers to God's relationship to the world – that He actively operates within it, sustains it as its effective cause, and is continually present (i.e. omnipresent). Hebrews 1:3 says that God, through Jesus Christ, is "sustaining all things by his powerful word" (NIV). Source

If God was ONLY a Transcendent being then YES, He will be lofty and high (and lifted up), all glorious and all powerful with His all surpassing greatness. I believe He didn't want just that!

He has a BIG heart for His Creation. And that is why He sent His Only Begotten Son, JESUS down to earth. So that He could be "represented". So that He could be "touched" and "made known to the world". So that HIS LOVE would truly be experienced on earth in a Physical way.

He is not just an Above ALL Presence, He is our Below ALL Presence as well!

It's just like the King of a Nation. He could live in his wonderful and majestic palace, and rule from his throne. I know there are Kings like that, which is fine... because they are Kings of their Land.

But now imagine a different King. One who is not just a Ruler but a "People's King" - where he walks with them, talks with them, lives with them, hears their cries and be the lifter of their heads, always longing to be PRESENT with them face to face.

And for these two Presences that our God represents, HE ALONE deserves ALL of our Glory, Honour and Praise!!! Will you enter His Presence this very day?
