The Gospel Hangs On This
Romans 1:3-4 (KJV)
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
The whole gospel hangs on this. So does the ministry of Paul. So does our very salvation. Jesus Christ is declared to be the Son of God. It is given that He is the seed of David. His right to the position He claimed is not disputed in that realm. The question is His Sonship.
Notice the forcefulness of the declaration. Paul is adamant. He has proven His Sonship “according to the spirit of holiness” and “by the resurrection from the dead.”
The one is an internal assurance
The Holy Spirit confirms in our hearts it truthfulness.
The other is an external proof
Jesus Christ died and, three days later, resurrected from the dead. That is not religious talk. It is not a spiritualization of the truth. It is historically accurate. It is factual. It was witnessed by both believers and non-believers. It was verified repeatedly over a forty-day span. It was confirmed by more that four hundred at one time.
This Bible is true because the resurrection is true. Salvation is true for all who believe and call upon His name.

I didn't think I needed to. The point of His being the very Son of God is that He is God. Thanks for reading and commenting!
I wouldn't have thought so a week ago either. But had someone a couple weeks ago disagree with me about that. They agreed that Jesus was God's son, and that He was the chosen messiah, and that He died for our sins, but didn't agree that He was God. Since then I've felt a stronger need to point out that Jesus is God! :) Again, great stuff, really enjoy content like this.
Theirs was a misunderstanding of the Scripture then. The Jews of Jesus' day knew that Jesus' claim to be the Son of God made Him equal with God. I agree that it is good to emphasize Christ's deity but it is also needful to educate people on Biblical culture. Blessings upon you!
