RE: Ancient Wisdom: The Book of Ahikar Part Nine
another excellent post @ironshield! I read all of your post aloud and think about it like a daily study time. this wording here "oppression by the vizier", vizier is a Muslim leader so that confuses me, how does it fit with this Jewish teaching? thanks!
Thank you! I'm glad you're reading the posts out loud. That's pretty amazing! Wisdom comes by hearing, more than reading. That's why people used to read out loud and rarely read silently like we do today. That was considered a great skill back in ancient times, to read silently.
The word vizier is probably a poor choice that the translator used. It's used anachronistically, since the Medes and the Persians had their rise to power after the Assyrians and the Babylonians. The Muslim rise in power was much much later. Modern translators have used this word even in our modern bibles...

I wish I had access to the original text in Aramaic! I could see what word was actually used there!
@ironsheld
original text? do you know Aramaic?
anyway thanks for the explanation, it makes sense now.
Yes I always try to read the Word aloud since "faith comes by hearing"..
thank you so much, you are a true blessing!
