THE DIFFERENT DEGREES OF POWER.
The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. - John 3:34
there are different levels of anointing. which means there is a small measure of power and it grows in us due to our commitment to God, living a righteous life and obedient to His voice when He speaks. What someone has is according to the level of availability to God. According to one's hunger and thirst. We all have the ability of having all the nine gifts of the Holy Ghost because it is the same one Holy Ghost that produces the gifts that dwell in us.
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. - Romans 12:4-8 NIV
God gifted us all differently, some with a combination of more spiritual gifts than others. It is response to the desire of the people.
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. - 1 Corinthians 14:1 NIV.
A good example is Elisha who asked for a double portion of Elijah's anointing if you want to read the story then check 2 kings 2:1-14. If we persevere in praying for His power He will eventually answer and give us power.
Once you give your life to christ automatically you now have the holy spirit in you. To develop the full power of the Holy spirit it is by continue seeking God with your whole heart. Fast and prayer read your bible together we Christians are going to make a difference to the world.

If I may, just a piece of importance! Care must be taken regarding the distribution of the gifts, as it's all appointed by God to each of us for His purposes! So many are disillusioned, as they are told that if they cannot speak in tongues, they don't have the spirit! The foot of the body cannot do the work of the eye and therefore God knows the needs of each of us and He empowers us with different gifts, through the Holy Spirit to serve to His Glory! Many of us were never available to God, but He made us available to Him and our lives' were completely changed! Blessings with your work and UV.

Of spiritual gifts, there are many. To name but a few, there are the gifts of prophecy, teaching, healing, discernment and compassion in the heart of man. Yet the underlying purpose in all spiritual gifts is the truth of Jesus Christ – to bear witness to God and His saving grace – the empowerment and the desire to minister the gospel to the lost.

Great post! Being in the field and here to make disciples of nations, the gifts come as we need them. They are grace gifts! These gifts take us farther than we really are in maturity. We are supposed to covet the better gifts. If a person never would let God use them in a certain gift, why would God give them the gift? For instance gifts of healing and you never pray for the sick. Discerning of spirits and you never meet or deal with the demonic. Gift of prophecy, toungues, interpretation of tongues, if you would never deliver such a message in public.
But in my experience, every time I am in a situation when I need such a gift, the giver of the gifts is there to meet the need.
These are things we should discuss!
