[Chart Your Course] : Shiver me timbers! We've got an update.

Can you guys remember the initiative Chart Your Course? It was started by @dreemsteem at the end of March in true pirate fashion. The aim of Chart Your Course was to get us all thinking about our goals here on the platform.

What do you want to gain from Steemit?
How are you going to do it?
What's your favorite dessert?

Of course, these were a lot more elegantly presented and the post was structured with various questions to get you thinking about your priorities, your ambitions, and your purpose here on the platform. My CYC was structured more heavily around our BuddyUP community. Sometimes your own purpose transcends a lot higher than your own self.

I was prompted by a request in the post that made me strongly consider the goals and aims for the community over the course of the year.

'Name at least one measurable future goal for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.'

[1 month] - 15 members will be a the Guppy rank in BuddyUP by 30/04/2018

[3 months] - 50 members will be a Guppy and 15 members will be a Gourami by 30/06/2018

[6 months] - 500 members in the BuddyUP community and 10 of those members will be consistently making 100SBD a week through BuddyUP by 30/09/2018.

[12 months] - BuddyUP servers starting ranks will be automated fully and 100 members will be earning 100SBD a week through BuddyUP by 30/03/2019.

_{100SBD is to reflect a round figure and triple-digit wage to relate to our current financial constraints. That figure is subject to change to whatever wage is required to make somebody financially free and able to design life round themselves, not the other way around.}

How're we doing so far?

Guppy is the second role you'll receive on the BuddyUP server, once you've shown your intentions to be engaging and involved in the community. This requires a somewhat active nature and either constant genuine engagement within our text channel or the participation in our first unlocked features.

Gourami is the third role in the server which is given for consistent participation in features, showing the willingness to improve and grow alongside other members or for publishing brilliant content, time after time. This role isn't given lightly because it unlocks permissions to provide support and opportunity for the lower ranks members.

BuddyUP currently has...

6 Guppies & 6 Gourami

With 3 more members in the runnings for a rank up in the next couple of days to Guppy, our goal of 15 by the 31/04/18 isn't too far off (Yes, I'm counting our Gourami as Guppies. They had to come from somewhere).

In the space of a month, we have witnessed huge strides forward in the community from our members. Supporting and encouraging each other with genuine support is potent. It creates an environment/atmosphere that puts a smile on your face the moment you open up the server.

Onward captain!

The coming months will be exciting and interesting to watch unfold for sure. The joy of an evolving community is the potential for change, we just have to all be open to ideas and the perspectives of each other. If something isn't working, highlight it. If someone is being an unnecessary pain in the ass, voice it to somebody privately. If you're not happy, let us know.
