Walk of Hope update : Arts and Crafts Showroom in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Philippines

in #charity6 years ago

Part of Walk of Hope's plans in regards to our Creating Livelihood Advocacy are the materials needed without incurring a lot of expenses and the means on how products are brought to the market. As an advocacy helping them to earn extra income, we don't have the means and resources to make things possible the normal way. What we do have are the skills and experience of @flabbergast-art in utilising what the area is rich of, collaborations with the local government, creatives & NGOs and business enterprises who expect quality and directly buy the end products.

If quality entails world class products, it's not farfetched that exporting them will also be on the table. But first, planning is being made as the country have regular Trade Fairs under the Department of Tourism and Industry as a promotion of our culture, crafts and innovations. @walkofhope is in the middle of this with our participations in the previous months.

Bamboo and other local produce

For the last couple of days after our workshop in Tan-awan, @flabbergast art was able to check an Art and Crafts showroom in Kabankalan City where it will be one venue for our finished quality products.

I was told these are quite heavy and unless there is an easy means to carry them, just have a look. But if anyone still fancies any of these, by all means.

All locally made in and around Kabankalan City.

Negros Province is rich in bamboo so similarly with Bayawan City, Kabankalan City and Tan-awan is full of them. These and whatever @flabbergast-art can find locally in Tan-awan will be utilised as he is living now there in their community up in the mountains. Knowing him, even the used and ignored stuff that he could find he could turn into ART.

With our last workshop, our students will chose on what product they want to focus on. Either musical instruments, kitchen utensils or other bamboo crafts and innovations have been shown so they can start and honed the skills needed to produce quality products and earn. @flabbergast-art for his part will need to teach new products and innovations deemed lucrative to their community.

Our Walk of Hope Family wants to thank Mountain Dreamers-Philippines for their help on our last event in Tan-awan. Cheers guys!
