An Awesome Project Led by @indayclara

The project that helps the children living in poverty. Children like the streets of Cebu city, Philippines. Cebu city is small, but our Mission is to put a smile into their faces, giving hope to their dreams and inspire them to become more. The project is Led by @indayclara in coordination with @jassennessaj and in partnership with @steemph.cebu . I am also invited as their documentation committee and would also love to Volunteer.

The story Behind The Awesome S.M.I.L.E. Project

Last May 12, 2018, @indayclara was invited to attend a feeding program for the street children as celebration of their friend’s birthday. And with an eager heart, @indayclara arrived at the venue early enough to meet the street children before the program started. It filled her heart with mixed emotions. One kid just started running towards her and gave a hug! She started interacting with the kids. The food was delivered and the hosting family arrived. They held a short program with a few games—the kids sure had a lot of fun. At one point, a kid approached me and asked for my shoes. One kid also told me that he did take a bath but wore the same clothes since he doesn’t have extra ones.

S.M.I.L.E. stands for

I also asked the same thing. Why here in Steemit when you can probably help kids without the power of steem? I have my own answer too. On the past few months, I struggled to earn some money to help kids and let them enjoy their time as a kid. I already had an experience of giving for the needy. Facebook never helped us on gathering our funds for the project, the likes and shares were meaningless. We contacted our closest friends to raise some funds, the good news was they only volunteered but most of the funds raised are from our own wallets.

As A Volunteer

I was shocked at Sunday afternoon right before we watched the deadpool 2 movie together with @carlitojoshua. He told me I was invited to be the one of the committees on @indayclaras project. So I checked my schedule, it is July 2 Saturday. I told him "Yeah, I am free" I am so happy to be a part of something that has a purpose with a goal. I also wanted this project to be successful and the Payout of this project will be added to the funds.

Past Project

We promised to ourselves that we will initiate feeding program before Christimas, and it happened. We had a wonderful time and wonderful feeling to see kids that they are all happy. We even don't care if we spent a lot of money for this Project. We also want to thank for those who Volunteered. I know this project was too simple but then again someday we will be returning in this orphanage and give the things they love. Thank you!

We volunteered and brought joy to the kids even it is not steem funded. How much more if the project was actually Steem funded. We can do better than this.

We had a flow of our Program. We also initiated games to play, give them rewards like toys and foods. We want them also to experience what Christmas is. We celebrated initiated this program before Christmas so Kids would remember the things that happened on this day. It was also really nice to see the kids having fun, and also how we interact to them.
Only one thing was forbidden to ask. The question was "Where are your Parents?". Some kids already knew why they left them, others already wanted to stay in the orphanage.

Me and my Girlfriend asked them. What if we adopt you? They told us they wanted to stay here for more. They seem don't like to be adopted or I rather say they want to be adopted by their real Parents. It is also sad to say that some Kids were left because their Parents died. Some already left the orphanage because they already independent. The orphanage still supports the kids until the finish College, and it is also a good thing. Someday we will be returning here and celebrate Christmas eve together with them.

Kuya

After that we went outside and give a simple token for those who need. We knew Kuya for a while, we met him and almost every photoshoot we had @calvinweigel will take out some food and give it to kuya. The good news is he was still there. He does not want also to be adopted by @calvinweigel . We also suggested that if he helps kuya on his stay inside Calvin's crib, we wanted to support his initiative and give Kuya a meaningful life and Job. But for now, Kuya rejected the offer and wanted to stay on his place. Kuya never left his place by the streets of Cebu (SRP).
