Charity: how to donate and be donated on Steemit

 We signed in on Steemit in February of this year. During this period, our reputation became 63 and we have 334 followers.

    We have made three withdrawals. Each such withdrawal allowed us to purchase feed for the shelter for two weeks. In addition, we were able to buy special food for dogs that need therapeutic nutrition.

    Today, already having some experience, I want to share with you some of my thoughts about charity on Steemit.

  Some words about charity on Steemit

  Charity on Steemit is not only possible, but also more likely. Why? Steemit allows you to donate in a non-monetary form. For example, you can upvote or resteem recipient's post. It does not require money from you! But it will help to spread the information and create an opportunity to increase an author's reward. The bulk of the funds we collected for the shelter, is precisely author's reward.

    Some advises for donations recipients

  1. Help is always a good thing. But there is also a technical side. To become successful on Steemit, you need to work out your blog. Quality and interesting content is what the community expects from us. This is an obligatory condition and you can not bypass it.

    2. Make it easy to follow you.

  3. Be sincere and honest. Honestly indicate the purpose for which you are asking for donations.

      This does not mean that you can ask for donation only for children, animals, old people, protection of the environment, etc. Ask for anything you want (your own education, PC, journeys etc.), but most importantly, be honest! People who help you have a right to know why they do it!

    Remember: lie is very expensive and the price to it is trust. Loss of trust on Steemit is often a loss of reputation. Whales and admins have enough power to "kill" the reputation of your blog once and for all.

  4. Do not hesitate to ask for help. People do not have to be able to read between the lines that you need help. Tell the community about it directly. For example, in our posts, we place such a link (it is just a picture, working link is at the end of this post).

    5. If you asked for donations, be ready to report. Those who supported you, have the right to know that their donations were used for their intended purpose.

  For example, we post a weekly post-digest about the events at the shelter and make photos of the purchased feed.

  6. Use tag "charity" in posts concerning your charity activity. This will allow the target audience to find your information more easily.

  7. No spamming! Charity is voluntary. Never leave comments as: "I follow you please follow me!" "I upvoted you, please do the same!". Such comments often do not cause any reaction, except irritation. At best case, you will receive an answer: "Please, stop sending spam!" At worst - you will become the object of negative attention of admins.    8. As for the withdrawal of funds received for your wallet, this is a technical matter. Each country will have its own peculiarities and I can not give concrete advice. Personally I withdraw the funds to Web money wallet. The procedure is not difficult, but in the beginning you will need help. Choose a consultant that you trust!

  I want to say that the development of the Steemit blog, associated with charity, is in principle no different from the development of any other blog. Except that you are directly asking for help.

  For those who want to help, Steemit provides such opportunities:

    - transfer a small amount to the recipient's wallet (it is good to note the purpose of your donation);
 - nominate recipient's post for been selected as Author of the day by the Steemvoter (SV) Guild;
 - just upvote and/or resteem recipient's post;
 - promote recipient's post.
   If you want to help more effectively, follow recipient's blog. It is also useful from time to time monitor posts with the tag "charity".

  I am sure that charity has great prospects at Steemit. But it must also be said that charity is often used by frauds. In this way, I do not exclude that over time, there may be a need to create a special supervisory board in the field of charity. But today it is too early to talk about this.

Thank you for reading and I'll be appreciate your comments!

Go for it! I'm planning a similar project and hope I can do it. Thank you for your thoughts. Will follow

When you help somebody, sooner or later that hepl come back in any other form. Any goodness always makes our planet nicer and better.

@ilonalt well said. Helping others feels good and that in itself is good karma. Maybe more parents should teach reciprocity and paying it forward?

I agree with you! Thank you for your comment:)

Very true words in your post @animal-shelter. I will follow and add you to my voting list..... every bit helps. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much! I also follow your blog. You make so beautiful photos!

Thank you...you are very kind to say so.

Nice post. My CD supported some no kill animal shelters around the country. It does seem like charity (giving or receiving) would be much easier on this platform. After I became ill and could not perform, my friends started a gofundme campaign. It was not very successful. Steem or other cryptos are probably easier to trade/transfer than asking someone to break out their credit cards and debit cards. Having said that. I am still new. Still learning. Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much! I hope you fell better now! And I agree with you that Steem or other cryptos are easier to transfer but the most of us are still learning to deal with them:)

Yes I know exactly what you mean haha

So many needs in this world. It's nice to know you are donating to a good cause. Animals have needs as well and they give so much to us

Thank you for your comment! I agree with you completely!
