Consider Human Constraints or Imperfection

Do not totally entrust people with responsibilities with the impression that they will come through always, even when they promise that they’ll do. Likewise, do not overrate people in your mind like they are super humans and so, think they cannot make particular mistakes or do some misdeeds. For example, idolizing a spiritual leader and submitting under him/her under the guise of spiritual superiority may come back to break your heart if such a leader misbehaves by doing those things you least expected from him. Many people have in this way learnt bitter lessons in their lives when supposed spiritual leaders have either conned them, or lured them into sexual infidelity, and other such vices.
Some people have also given their hard earned money (sometimes, their life savings) as loan to people who have later cone to stab them on the back by refusing to repay or paying just a little percentage of the total sum.

The Plan B

When making plans, especially in business, always prepare a plan B, sometimes, even a plan C, depending on how delicate the venture is. No one wishes that his plan fails, but plans do fail. You should therefore make room for alternatives. Prepare an alternative truck for that delivery you have to make; have another supplier for the product you use, just in case your major supply fails to deliver or he could be unreachable; Let there be a standby machine to cater for when your major machine breaks down.

Do it yourself

There are many simple pragmatic skills that will save you a lot of disappointment if you would just learn them. A simple touch could put your car back in motion when it breaks down on the expressway, where external help is far from reach. There are some jobs that though I am not a pro at them, I prefer to do them myself to the extent I can reach. I once painted my apartment myself because I knew the painters around will not be patient enough to give me the design I desired. At the end of the exercise, I was so please with my painting that I even took pictures to show my friends.

Do not disappoint others

What goes around, they say comes around. What you do not want others to do to you, do not do it to them. Try as much as possible not to betray people’s trust. Do not make promises you cannot fulfil; do not prove to be who you are not because people will always try to pay you out with what you’ve done to them.
