Cervantes Magazine Number 25: Trending

in #cervantes6 years ago (edited)

10 years from now, if the STEEM reaches more than $8,000, we will say: "if only i had valued those 0.01 SBD from the minnows".

At the time of this publication, the BITCOIN value (BTC) exceeds $ 8,689. 10 years ago, a Social Network based on BTC would have seemed like a crazy adventure of young dreamers playing to win satoshis, with the hope of someday watching those cents become real money. Today those young people would be rich!

This issue of the @cervantes Magazine has as its main theme the "what ifs”. I will NOT dedicate this “Trending” section to relate with fictional elements of an utopian future where STEEM is as powerful as the current BITCOIN and we all become rich by pure hazards of the stock market. Rather, I will take the opportunity to highlight the REAL VALUE of the interactions of new users minnows in Steemit and reinforce the concept of curatorship.

0.01 SBD is the minimum value of an upvote in Steemit. With the current price of STEEM, a user needs 32 SP to generate them. In other words, almost any active user with more than two months in the network, is able to add that amount to your wallet.

Use the Steemnow calculator to find out how much your vote is worth.

We understand that 0.01 is one hundredth of 1, in other words, you need 100 votes of minnows to generate 1 SBD.

100 upvotes ?! then what good does the votes of the minnows?

The hundredth part of 1 BTC is currently equivalent to $80, which means that, those crazy dreamers who 10 years ago bet on the imaginary Social Network of BTC, today would greatly appreciate the votes from little fish.

Users in Steemit tend to commit the curator error.

Steemit is a Social Network that puts at the hands of all its users, the possibility of making transactions through curatorship. The users, having the tool, dedicate almost 100% of their voting strategy to a single interaction: vote for great whales, waiting for a reward in return.

The curatorship error occurs when a user is dedicated to curate without understanding the concept of "curatorship" in all its dimensions, both economically, artistic and legal.

What is a curator and why it is counterproductive to dedicate oneself to curatorship without understanding it?

According to our dear friend Wikipedia, Steemit's older sister, misunderstood among the "literati" and beloved by the masses: a curator "is a professional trained in the field of knowledge that enables, among others, the exhibition, valuation, management, preservation and administration of goods ". In the case of art, considering that Steemit is, among other things, a large library of literary pieces, the curator "is an active agent in the exercise of aesthetic values, formed mainly, although not exclusively, in the history of art and esthetic".

On the economic level, it is not enough to know that voting after 30 minutes is better than voting after 5, or that the profit from your vote is equivalent to 25% of the post-cure earnings and that this amount is distributed among all the voters depending on your voting power in the network.

The accounts that are professionally dedicated to cure in Steemit, use digital tools to know exactly how many votes per day they can do at 100%, how many at 90% and how many at 10%, depending on their strategy. But this is not all, voting power is spent and regenerated every day, if the relationship of votes is manipulated blindly, the REAL VALUE of the interactions can get out of hand; If you vote too much the value of your vote can decrease to 0 SBD and if your activity is small, you would be wasting your own power to vote and profit.

I invite you to ask yourself the following:

Do you know how much your vote is worth and how much do you need so that it has a value of 0.1 or 0.5 SBD, for example?

Do you know exactly how many votes and interactions you can do each day before your voting power and bandwidth enter into a critical state?

Do you have the tools to measure, tabulate and calculate the number of daily interactions and how many percentage will you use to distribute them?

Don’t be afraid, this article is not intended to decrease your moral, if you understood EVERYTHING that implies the curatorship and you don’t want to fall into the curatorship error, the procedure is easy:

DON’T DEDICATE YOURSELF TO CURATORSHIP!

Use your votes to make friendships and win readers, regardless of their SP or the value of their votes. Discuss the articles of the minnows and appreciate through your vote those who comment your posts in a good way. Resteem them to encourage them, dedicate yourself to READ AND WRITE, those two qualities will make you powerful in Steemit. Make a community with your peers and grow up with them.

But above all things, don’t EVER forget that there is the possibility that one day STEEM becomes something as big as BTC. If that happens, it is likely that you will repeat this expression for the rest of your life:

"If only i had understood the real value of those 0.01 SBD, I would have** dedicated more to interact with people.

It may be that one day we are seen as the next crazy dreamers who ventured to play in an ocean that sent them into the clouds.

On this occasion, I want to pay tribute to the people who vote and comment in this “Trending” section of the @cervantes Magazine. Thanks for the VALUABLE interaction.

Your interactions are worth more to me than you imagine!
