In life we find difficult decisions to choose. As we are human, we make mistakes. But we also succeed. Is it the same in the theater? Yes, we learn from the trials and errors.

Creating a Theatrical character is a process that is based on several methods and techniques studied by different scholars.

There is the imaginative, in which you ask yourself: what would it have been like if you had done such an action.

This is a method that actor and theater director Konstantin Stanislavsky, called "The Magic yes and the given circumstances. How does it work? Basically in the study of the character, of his time, his life condition, the time and place where the action takes place, the staging, the props, costumes, among others ... In a few words, everything related to the context of the character and its situation both physically, and emotionally.

When this is clear, the next step comes: The Magic Self. This method consists of taking on the given circumstances of the character that we previously named, recognizing them, feeling them and accepting them. From there, the Magic Yes is kind of an imaginative game, in which we pose a question:

What if I ... ( would be, had been or were) like such character?

Let’s assume that the character is a young man who is forced to go to war, if I had been in his situation, how would I feel? What would i say? Sure, it’s not that easy, we have to study the character.

If this young man didn’t have any family, nor true friends, he would spend his time wandering alone in the world ..., most likely he would be accepted. And if he needs to die, he would accept it. There is nothing worse than living alone.

But if on the other hand, this young man were an enthusiastic student, an art lover, with a beautiful family and perhaps a girlfriend, would he have felt comfortable leaving everything for a war? Well, no, because the given circumstances changed, the young man has a reason to stay, or in this case, to survive in the war and be able to return.

That is the essence of the Magic Yes, it is a stimulus for imagination in favor of the creation of a character, and that power of imagination inspires the phrase: "what if i ..." .

Theatrical art is quite a feat, a constant adventure of learning and creation, because, after all, at some point in our lives, we ask ourselves that question, don’t we?
