Fear of the Dark

Talking about the darkness brings back memories of my childhood, which I still have engraved in my mind, since I was afraid of the dark. When night came, I felt a fear that invaded my entire body, my only refuge when I slept was going to be under my sheets.

I always remember that adults told us stories of terror, something that seemed too spooky, since I was very afraid at bedtime, everything was dark, I just needed God to protect me from all evil.

A real life story when I was a child, on a vacation that my mother took me to my paternal grandparents and my little sister. They told me not to fear the darkness because they were there to take care of us. My mother, two days later, went to look for me, they called her, my grandparents because she was very afraid of being completely in the dark, and they also told her that she had spent the whole night crying. I'm surprised because that night I fell asleep early and I did not cry.

After the time passed as adults my sister confessed that that night who cried at my grandparents' house had been her, today I thank her for staying silent and never telling the truth, because thank God I did not go to vacation anymore to my grandparents' house because I was very afraid when I was in that house.

Thank God today I do not fear the darkness because I know that God will protect me and take care of me when I need it.
