Because the month of January in Cebu is devoted much to the Sinulog celebration allow me to share another mall exhibit I happen to pass by on the same subject matter .

I love art as much as I love travelling. I love antiquity because of the stories behind them. They never cease to fascinate me that I can spend hours just meticulously watching the details be it be the facade of an old building, a costume of a given genre, old handwritten letters or any art for this matter.

"it is easily overlooked that what Is now called vintage was once brand new ".

As I have earlier stated on my Sinulog post the child Jesus had been portrayed in many forms -as a policeman, a judge, doctors etc. More like the owner personalizing the image to his needs. So in this exhibit you'd see the devotee do just that.

Back in the old days, my grandparents told me that images such as this were made from special wood that fills the whole room with nice scent. Way back then they said the face, hands and feet were made from porcelain ivory while the jewels were made from gold. Such was the opulence or the devotion of the past that too many of those in public display were stolen if not amputated. As such, even at the mall, close circuit guard make sure that these priceless family heirlooms are safe. In this exhibit you're not even allowed to touch the image.

I am grateful I was allowed to take pictures as other like in Villa Escudero and other museums I had been to won't allow photo be taken of their collection for fear of being under the radar of art thefts.

Many religion would frown upon this practise labelling it as idolatry. But for me, as much as we keel pictures of departed loved ones to remind us of them, I see no different with keeping this images in our home or offices of business. If we understand the fun worship of our teens to Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga then I don't see why other people call this a sin? Buddhist have their Buddha and Hindu have their gods so why the difference?

I am grateful that once again I was able to freely visit an exhibit that enhances my faith.Happier that it's for free.

Many people might not believe in the sacred image but even so one can still manage to appreciate the artisan craftmanship In time were mass production Is rampant, having this unique one of a kind collectors delight is a breath of fresh air. I am just way too grateful to witness it for myself that I'm sharing this in case you missed it.

I hope one way or another it inspires you to collect on something you can leave behind to your descendants long after you're gone. I hope it inspires to you as well to live up to the same values that these artisan have for their art-values such as excellence, dedication among hardwork among others.

Happy Tuesday fellow steemians
Keep writing those beautiful timelless blogs Always remember the words of Marcus Aurelius "what we do today echoes through eternity "consider each blog you make as a legacy as a token of you're youth so write it well like the proud artisan who sculpted all these Santo nino images .

Till next post,
Ayn
