More Tomcat tales

Cat tail.jpg

I have never seen a cat habitually curl its tail like this and he often curls it even tighter. Because he is so scared, I have never seen him with his tail straight up in the air.

A week later, he is coming when called and eats 2 meals a day most of the time. He also slept upstairs one night.
This morning, he was rolling around on his back in front of me, exposing his belly, a sign that he trusts me and I managed to scratch his head briefly. It was a good thing he allowed this because he had a piece of a cat's claw embedded in his forehead and I was able to remove it. He also has a tick on his cheek but I wasn't able to remove that, the fear kicked in and I got a slap so I let him be.

Unfortunately, relations with my cats have deteriorated because yet another cat has shown up, a large tuxedo male that visits and upsets my cats from time to time. I have never been able to catch this particular cat though.

So vet visit day for the small cat should happen very soon.

Good job with the small cat. Maybe we will be able to see the rest of him in his next post :-)

It's a visual pun ;)

This cat's tail is very similar to the tail of a fox, only a red fox

Sounds like he's making himself at home, i'm glad that he's trusting you more. The kitty gang will just have to get used to him.😁

Sheesh, that will take a while

I continue to wonder if I should get a cat. One twin is a cat lady in the making. She really loves them and reminds me of a cat herself. But the knowledge that these creatures will have such independent lives and that I could only respond to them when they will it, would stress me out I think. My best friend in high school was a crazy cat lady. She looked after many feral cats that became her pets. But one by one they’d disappear....They’d get injured and hide, never returning, or maybe finding a better home. It was just so odd to me, I get too attached to things.

Feral cats are very different to cats born as kittens in a domesticated environment and you might be surprised at just how un-aloof many cats actually are and many of them are total homebodies. Most of my cats are feral and very independent but even so, they follow me around wherever I am and there is also always at least one, usually more, waiting outside by my garage to greet me whenever I get home.

Its hard removing ticks from the face of a cat, they are sensitive.

Today, he was dozing outside and quite relaxed when I approached and to my surprise, he allowed me to touch and scratch his head for quite a while and I managed to remove the tick. A little while later, he let me know that he had had enough by biting me. Still, that was good progress

Oh; you have a new family member?

Looks like it :P

Sounds like fun. I hope he adjusts well and gets accepted by the others

I'm not that optimistic :(

Nice job! Hope you get along well!
